Landscape Laborer

Landscape Laborer General Statement of Duties: to assistant the crew leader with the work, performing maintenance, landscaping and hardscaping. The employee will be required to operate and use various small engine equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To follow the best practices for planting of trees & shrubs, mulching and lawn maintenance
  • Proper pruning of trees and shrubs
  • Will follow all company safety policies and practices
  • Operate & maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to operate mowers, dingos & chipper
  • Small engine equipment; sod cutter, mowers, tamper, core aerator, etc.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions
  • Good housekeeping; Trucks will not have garbage left in them and will be cleaned out daily and washed on a biweekly basis as needed.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Assistant Landscape Crew Leader

ASSISTANT CREW LEADER General Statement of Duties: to assistant the crew leader with supervision in the work and crew performing maintenance, landscaping, and hardscaping. The employee leads and participates in performing various landscaping and horticultural functions, maintenance tasks, and equipment operation. Employee is responsible for securing materials, equipment for the following day’s job. The employee will assist the crew leader with the monitoring work quality, insuring crew safety,training of employees and providing performance feedback to the crew leader. The employee will be required to operate and use various small engine equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To assist and lead crew and ensure all best practices are followed:
    • To follow the best practices for planting of trees and shrubs.
    • Proper pruning of trees and shrubs and to help train other employees with this task.
    • Will enforce the company’s safety policies and practices.
    • Prepare and secure materials, tools, and special equipment for the following day.
  • Operate & maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks:
    • Ability to operate Skids steers, Dingos & chipper
    • Small engine equipment; sod cutter, mowers, tamper, core aerator, etc.
    • Check filters & grease equipment at the end of the day and to ensure all equipment and trucks are kept clean.
    • Ability to drive and operate truck & trailer
  • Leadership:
    • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
    • To enforce rules and work standards to ensure safety of the workers at the workplace.

Assistant Hardscape Crew Leader

General Statement of Duties: to assistant the crew leader with supervision in the work and crew performing maintenance, landscaping and hardscaping. The employee leads and participates in performing various landscaping functions, maintenance tasks, and equipment operation. Employee is responsible for securing materials, equipment for the following day’s job. The employee will assist the crew leader with the monitoring work quality, insuring crew safety, training of employees and providing performance feedback to the crew leader. The employee will be required to operate and use various small engine equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To assist and lead crew and ensure all best practices are followed:
    • Ability to learn & read landscape design prints and implements the landscape construction plan.
    • Ability to learn the use of transit and properly shoot elevations
    • To follow the Young’s best practices of hardscape installation.
    • To follow and enforce the companies safety policies and procedures
    • Properly set up a safe work zone
    • Prepare and secure materials, tools and special equipment for the following day.
  • Operate & maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks:
    • Loaders, dingos, skid-steer, chop saw
    • Plate compactors, stone grinders, drills, gas and electric chop saws, demolition hammers
    • Ability to drive and operate truck & trailer
    • Check filters & grease equipment at the end of the day
    • Will ensure all equipment and trucks are kept clean daily.
    • Leadership: Working knowledge of leadership skills including communications, motivation, and performance feedbackto achieve the project goals and targets.
  • Leadership:
    • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
    • To enforce rules and work standards so as to ensure safety of the workers at the work place.

Management of a crew and projects, assigning work tasks, using equipment, monitoring work quality, insuring crew safety, training of employees, and providing performance feedback to senior leadership. The employee leads and participates in performing various landscaping and horticultural functions, maintenance tasks, and equipment operation. Employee is responsible for securing materials, equipment and work order record-keeping for each project.

Job Requirements:

  • Tree & Shrub planting; working knowledge of horticultural practices.
  • Proper pruning of trees and shrubs; working knowledge of horticultural practices.
  • Ability to read landscape blueprints,
  • 2 to 5 years of related experience in landscape/hardscape
  • Properly apply Herbicide & Pesticides
  • To follow and enforce the companies safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate & maintain all equipment: Loaders, dingos, skid-steer & various small engine
  • Ability to drive and operate truck & trailer
  • Basic skill in writing daily reports and documents
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Full-time Monday through Friday with Saturdays in the spring
  • Snow plow experience is a plus

Full Time Drivers for Lawn Maintenance Division

Job Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy
  • Previous experience with string trimmers, edger’s, and walk behind mowers helpful but will train
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, and cold
  • Must be ready and willing to represent the Company in a professional manner
  • Full-time Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays
